Leith Ross Discusses Latest Album and Creating the Perfect Tour Environment
I had the opportunity to speak with the lovely Leith Ross about their upcoming album, “I Can See The Future”. Ross’ standout song “We’ll Never Have Sex” led to a huge rising social presence and created a different voice to music today. When talking about the album, Ross described it as an obvious motion shift within the songs from their previous work and explained the new album as presenting feelings of nostalgia, “on the move” and romance. During the album writing process, Ross was trying to figure out where exactly they wanted to fit in in the world and what they wanted to inspire in others while listening to the album.
While listening to the album, half of it was super personal and the second half is about finding an understanding of the world. During the interview with Leith Ross, they talked about their upcoming tour, the songs they were excited to perform and the atmosphere they wanted to create. The songs they were most excited to sing are the songs “ Point of View”, which is felt as a love song, and the personal songs “Grieving” and “I Will”. The environment that Ross plans to create during the tour is a comforting environment and less intimidating where they can connect with fans and everyone present can enjoy their time.
During the interview call, Ross gave everyone a sneak peak of their new song “Point of View” and while it is no surprise Ross is an amazing artist, this song is on a whole different level.
One verse from the song that really stuck with me was
“When you cry, I am aching
When you're happy, I’m a bird
And I'll admit, I've been the teacher
‘What a gift that you let me learn.
Are all my love songs about me?”.
To me this felt like falling in love with oneself from someone else's eyes, or from their “point of view”.
“I Can See The Future” has no doubt in my mind about becoming the next big album and I fully believe that anyone who has the chance to attend a Leith Ross concert should go and embrace the moment.
